Our New Unit at Libra Court, Sidmouth
We have now opened our new unit at Libra Court in Sidmouth.
The unit provides a drop in centre to find out about the Sidmouth Drill Hall campaign and the work of the Hub, plus a shop selling a range of products including our Sidmouth ‘Woolleys’ fisherman’s jerseys, t-shirts, jewellery, books, prints and other gifts and collectables. Each product has a link to the sea or to sustainability and aims to provide an educational story on inshore fishing and the heritage of fishing and other activities and developments in the Eastern Town of Sidmouth. You can also find out about the workshops, talks and events that we run including Sidmouth Sea Fest.
The unit was made possible through a fundraising campaign and the incredible generosity of local people, businesses and organisations that donated their time and funds. We have been greatly supported by Charles and Susie at Libra Court throughout.
Sidmouth Drill Hall Hub is a community interest company that supports a range of activities connected to the greater understanding of the heritage, land rights, usage, and existing potential of the eastern end of Sidmouth and to regeneration of the area through engaging and involving the community to maintain a connection between the past, present and future.
Can You Help?
We are looking for:
Volunteers to staff the unit.
Help with administration, marketing and more at the unit and generally.
Knitters – our very first Sidmouth and Beer jerseys, or ‘Woolleys’, are now available to see in the unit. We are looking for knitters to sign up to our network and get involved.
Are you a local small business? Perhaps a jewellery maker, photographer, potter, or artist? Would you like to sell your products through our shop? Please come and talk to us.
We are also looking to partner with other local organisations that support or share our views on community engagement and local development. Please get in touch and come and visit us.
